Starkville High School Athletic Fields
Client: Starkville High School
Location: Starkville, MS
Project Scope: Renovation and Upgrades
Architects: MP Design, Architectonics
The Starkville Athletics Fields project included resurfacing the baseball, softball, and football fields, as well as installing new lighting and scoreboards. The baseball and softball fields originally had natural grass surfaces with perimeter chain-link fencing. Both fields were cut down to establish a stable foundation, and the existing fencing was demolished.
A new sports turf system was installed, along with a perimeter fence featuring architectural brick columns and chain-link fencing. The softball field’s scoreboard had been neglected, so a new frame was erected, and the scoreboard was relocated to a more visible position. The football field already had turf in place; however, the existing turf was removed, and the foundation was built up to support the installation of a new sports turf system.
The surrounding track was cleaned and resurfaced, and new paint markings were applied. The football field also received a new scoreboard featuring instant replay and production capabilities. All three fields were upgraded with new LED Musco lighting installed on the existing light poles, providing multicolor and light show capabilities. Finally, each field was equipped with emergency inverters to support egress lighting.
